Starting...

Thirty years in technology covering technical, sales, consulting and leadership.

My career path on paper doesn't appear so different from many others after this period of time.  I have enjoyed great (and sub optimal!) leaders, amazing businesses and fascinating customers. I have worked internationally and across a breadth of business stages...extending from corporate through to early stage startup and from IT to Fintech.

I have enjoyed a good degree of career success overcoming a collection of personal challenges on the way, alongside making many mistakes and miscalculations.

I've faced boardroom tables staring at me for answers to growth challenges. Sat in one to ones with a Fortune 500 CEO working hard to overcome crippling imposter syndrome at the time! Endured being shouted at across meeting room tables and navigated a fair share of politics.  I have been pushed, pressed, challenged and encouraged...succeeded and failed.

It took me a long time to accept that these things were all just part of the journey. No matter what anyone tells you careers are never plain sailing.

Professional growth is much more about self-awareness,  understanding your impact on others and adapting those things to suit the situation at hand. It took me time to really understand this, especially as I started my career as a hard charging competitive graduate in technology.

As I have grown in seniority and experience I have benefitted from external perspectives and challenge. It has helped me become a better leader, a more confident person and much more capable 'under fire'.

Laminar is my vehicle to give back to others who find themselves at crossroads in their leadership, times of transition or major challenges.

I don't have all the answers - but I am committed to sharing what I do have in a direct and real-world way hoping that others can benefit.

Let's start.
